Abstract

How will Norman’s Mailer’s work be regarded in the future? From our current vantage point, we have no way of knowing. But we can say this: from WWII to the new millennium—with passion, intelligence, and skill—Mailer has charted the strange and troubled times of the United States.

  • Raymond M. Vince

    Raymond M. Vince has taught at USF, the University of Tampa, and Eckerd College. A British citizen, he has also worked as teacher, headmaster, and chaplain at schools and colleges in the U.S. and England. His interests include Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Mailer, Nabokov, Heroism in War, medieval literature, and the Spy Novel. His book, Heroism, War, and Narrative: Hemingway, Tolkien, and le Carré, Storytellers to the Modern World, was published in 2008 by VDM Verlag of Germany.
