Abstract

A grown man recalls the spring Boy Scout jamboree when, as a new tenderfoot, he was turned out of his tent so two older scouts could entertain a pair of local sisters, and he imagines what became of the girls whose visit grew into schoolyard legend.

Author Biography

  • Victor Peppard, University of South Florida

    Victor Peppard received his PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Michigan in 1974. He taught Russian at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia in 1973 and 1974 and has taught Russian at the University of South Florida in Tampa since 1975 where he was Chair of World Languages from 2000 to 2011. Peppard has published on such writers as Isaak Babel, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Norman Mailer, Solzhenitsyn, Yury Olesha, and Vladimir Voinovich, as well as on the history of Russian and Soviet sport. He has also published several short stories.
