Abstract

Norman Mailer acknowledges Ernest Hemingway’s influence on his artistic style and public character. The two authors never met, but Hemingway’s lone letter to Mailer—and Mailer’s book inscription prompting that letter illuminate the interest the two men expressed in each other’s work.
