Abstract

There is a deep literary relationship between D. H. Lawrence (1885–1930) and Norman Mailer (1923–2007)—particularly in their writing on sexuality. For Lawrence and Mailer, the vantage point involved a personal pilgrimage. Both art and life had to be transformed in the liminal area of gender, in a no-man’s land between literary point of view and “emotional odyssey,” where we may discover their vision.
