  • Nicholas Samaras

    Nicholas Samaras (PhD, University of Denver) won The Yale Series of Younger Poets Award with his first book, Hands of the Saddlemaker. He is from Patmos, Greece (the "Island of the Apocalypse"), and was brought in exile to be raised further in America. Having lived in Greece, England, Wales, Switzerland, Austria, Yugoslavia, and Jerusalem, he writes from a place of permanent exile, and specializes in teaching Literature of Exile. Currently, Samaras has just relocated to West Nyack, New York where he is completing two new poetry manuscripts and a memoir of living underground during his childhood years.
