Abstract

The editor’s column introduces Volume 13, assembled remotely after the pandemic closed the university. It highlights the reprint of Mailer’s 1963 science-fiction story “The Last Night” with Michael Shuman’s contextual essay, J. Michael Lennon’s conversation on the state of Mailer Studies, an excerpt from Bonnie Culver’s play Norris, and comparative essays by Robert Begiebing and Raymond Vince that launch a series pairing Mailer with other major figures, along with the issue’s fiction and poetry. It also marks the deaths of Chris Busa and Wilbur F. Hayes and welcomes Gary D. Rhodes to the editorial staff.
