Abstract

The editor marks the tenth anniversary of The Mailer Review, reflecting on the journal’s growth to ten volumes, its volunteer staff and contributors, and its symbiotic relationship with The Norman Mailer Society and its donors. The column then pays tribute to Donald Kaufmann (1927–2015), author of one of the first scholarly books on Mailer and of Norman Mailer: Legacy and Literary Americana, recalling his role in bringing Mailer to the University of Alaska, his long friendship with Mailer, and his novels Bramble and O Brave New Eve.
