Abstract

The poem observes that, apart from a few who stay bitter, old men grow tender, setting aside their posturing to lift grandchildren and sit contentedly with their grown sons.

  • Nicholas Samaras

    Nicholas Samaras is the author of “American Psalm, World Psalm” (Ashland Poetry Press, 2014). His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Poetry, Kenyon Review, and elsewhere. He is currently completing a new book of poetry and a memoir and he serves as the Poetry Editor for The Adirondack Review.
