Abstract

Harlot’s Ghost is Mailer’s fictional account of historical fears about ghosts and moles at the Central Intelligence Agency. Mailer depicts the denigrating effect that living a secret life has on a fictional American agent, Harry Hubbard, whom Mailer based on real spies and CIA agents in the late twentieth century.
