Abstract

Robert J. Begiebing reviews the revised and expanded Norman Mailer: Works and Days by J. Michael and Donna Lennon, edited by Gerald Lucas (The Norman Mailer Society), a descriptive bibliography and chronology now also available in digital form through Project Mailer. Begiebing describes the book’s “Works” and “Days” sections and its appendices, praises the hundreds of added entries, annotations, and photographs and the searchability of the digital edition, and recounts discoveries of his own among the entries. He suggests explaining the red entry numbers, correcting a misattributed quotation, and extending the index beyond “Works,” and concludes that no serious Mailer scholar can avoid the volume.
