Out of a bubbling flurry of methane and sulfur mud,
She grips the velvet fins of two dolphins.
Through the ferrous milkroot slop of severage,
They bear her toward a shattered schizoid world
Where three-legged frogs sing in black dandelions
Along a vast cloacal barren no man will swim.
And her sister jackdaws skirmish on the wires
As if to pass the news of her shadow’s violet
Crowning from a mafic blowhole in the deep
Up smoke-squealing middens of sea trash
To brother birds, in descent, through pelting rain.
They caw the wind combing her golden river hair.
Now, erect, she stands on a pane of water,
Colossus lolling, languid, sure to find north.
